Santa Marija Caves

Reef Dive, Santa Marija Caves, Comino

The Santa Marija Caves have got to be the most scenic dives in Malta. The Santa Marija Caves can be found on the middle island of Comino on its Northside.

It is a very popular dive site due to having crystal clear waters with incredible mini caves. There are at least 10 caves that are known of today which divers can explore. Each has its own distinct feature, such as the "Z" shaped cave and no cave is the same. There are some which offer swim-throughs, underwater tunnels and others have beautiful blue waters through their entrances.

Because this dive is relatively shallow, you will more than likely get a 60min dive out of it. These caves are not only ideal for divers, but also for snorkelers since most of the caves are quite shallow and also most are half out of the water. The caves are not deeper than 8 meters. For underwater photographers, this is a playground not to be missed!

The Caverns & Swim Throughs

The caverns are a stunning dive, with views of the light zone at all times on the dives. You will see the light streaming through the cracks and openings in the cavern roof, with some great opportunities for photographers and videographers.

Experience Needed

You must be certified to dive to a depth of 18 meters to dive this site, as such we would require a minimum of Open Water Diver certification. We would also recommend Nitrox Diver.
