PADI RESCUE DIVER IN MALTA
Become a more confident diver and buddy with the PADI Rescue course here in St Paul's Bay. At New Dimension Scuba, we think every diver should do a Rescue course.
- How to respond to different emergency scenarios
- How to prevent a situation becoming an emergency
- Practice role-playing situations to build confidence
- Learn basic first aid and CPR
- Gain confidence in handling panicking divers
It is hard work, but a lot of fun. It's also a mandatory prerequisite course for many professional or technical diving courses, such as Divemaster or Tec 45. After successful completion, many divers say that this course is the most rewarding course they have ever taken.
What do I need to start?
Before starting the course, please make sure you meet the following prerequisites:
- 15 years of age
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent from another organisation)
- Emergency First Response training (EFR) (or equivalent from another organisation) current within the past 2 years. The EFR course can be taken with your Rescue course
You should also check whether you will need a doctor's approval of fitness to dive by carefully reading the medical form.
What will I do?
During the PADI Rescue Diver course you will:
- Study the Rescue Diver eLearning
- Complete a self-rescue assessment
- Participate in skill development workshops to cover responses to a variety of different emergency situations, such as:
- Tired diver on the surface
- Panicked diver on the surface
- Distressed diver underwater
- Missing diver search patterns
- Surfacing the unresponsive diver
- Unresponsive diver on the surface and in-water rescue breathing
- Towing and exiting the unresponsive diver
- First aid for pressure related injuries and oxygen administration
- Complete an emergency action plan
- Participate in rescue scenarios
- Complete an online exam
How long will it take?
As little as two days. Theory is completed in your own time via the PADI Rescue Diver eLearning. The initial training is completed in confined open water, and then it's into open water for further training and scenarios. One additional day will be needed to complete the Emergency First Response course, if required.
Our course fee includes everything you need:
- Confined open water training sessions to learn the basics
- Open water training sessions to put your skills into practice
- Online training materials (PADI eLearning)
- Full scuba equipment rental and gas fills
- Certification costs
- Emergency First Response training - if you don't already have this, please choose this option
We also offer a free hotel pick-up/drop-off service if you are staying in the St Paul's Bay, Bugibba, Qawra or Xemxija areas.
What next?
The Rescue Diver certification is a mandatory step towards becoming a PADI Divemaster - the first level of professional diving. If that's your goal, the Rescue course is where your professional journey begins.
