Reef Dive, Ghajnsielem, Gozo
Ras il-Hobz is also known as "Middle Finger" is located south of Gozo. Ras il-Hobz is a single pinnacle rising from the depth and is a perfect dive site for technical divers to get great depths. As the pinnacle descends all the way down to about 100 meters, along the reef around 63m, lies a large 3 pronged anchor full of over grown coral and an abundance of marine life.
This dive is suitable for Advanced divers, Technical Divers and Open Water Divers as long as they keep to their depth limits. The nearby reef on the west side of Ras Il-Hobz is just 5 metres deep, excellent for deco and safety stops while exploring, or for the open water students in training.
The narrow channel between this rock and the shore is 35 metres deep whereas on the seaward side, the bottom drops dramatically beyond 90m
As you swim around the pinnacle, the marine life is extraordinary. You will find anything from Moray eels, Octopus, Lobsters to slipper lobsters, Amber Jacks, barracuda. If you love marine life, Ras il-Hobz is a dive site for you.
You must be certified to dive to a depth of 30 meters to dive this site, as such we would require a minimum of Advanced Open Water Diver certification. We would also recommend being a Nitrox Diver.
